Shanika Dixon-Glaze, MSW, VAWC

Hello, I’m Shanika Dixon-Glaze, and I am passionate about providing compassionate, culturally sensitive, and evidence-based therapy to individuals and families. With over 15 years of experience in the field, I have dedicated my calling to supporting children and adults through some of life’s most challenging circumstances. As a Black therapist, I understand the unique cultural and systemic factors that can affect mental health and overall well-being. My approach is holistic, and client-centered, ensuring that each person feels heard, valued, and empowered. I welcome spiritual/faith-based modes for coping and lifestyle practices. I love to work with children and children with acute behavioral and self-regulation challenges, who are on the Autism Spectrum, and have barriers pertaining to learning/cognitive abilities. I assist the parents of these children with positive parenting techniques. I teach skills that foster effective communication and healthy relationships. My therapeutic approach is integrative, combining elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), talk therapy, psycho-education, trauma-focused therapy, music and play therapy. I am committed to creating a collaborative and supportive environment where clients can explore their feelings, develop resilience, and achieve their goals.
